Making the change

For years we have directed people to our website, http://www.kadiver.com/, and while we will maintain the kadiver.com domain for our emails, continuing to update the website has become complicated. Microsoft ceased creation of the software I used to make and update the website, so my new computer, which has Vista and not XP does not support frontpage (said software). Besides, it was a lot of work to load and thumbnail the photos. So, I'm trying to make a change to blogging which can include photos.

So, where are we in our year? Our lives? We have just finished with a month of busy travel, both to Mexico and Florida. Our Mexico trip started in San Diego where we stayed with our good friends Eve, John and Julian. We picked up our cruise on the Holland America Oosterdam in freezing cold Southern California (yeah, what was that about?). The cruise was a Rosie O'Donnell R Family Cruise, so everyone was either gay or gay friendly. Having been on a cruise this past summer to Alaska I have to say that the atmosphere on this cruise was much friendlier - there was a great deal of commraderie. The reason for the cruise was that a boy from our synaoguge was having his Bar Mitzvah on the cruise. Besides a few families from Temple, and Rabbi Latz and his family, Chris' Mom Mary, and his sister Jennifer joined us. This was the first time we have travelled with anyone from Chris' family and we had a really good time together. The cruise went to Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallerta. I spent the bulk of my time in port seeking out beaches so Reuben could play in the sand and waves. Chris, Mary and Jennifer shopped in Cabo and ATVed in PV - we all went to the beach in Mazatlan.

A week after we returned home it was time for Reuben's 6th birthday! This consisted of 20 kids at a place called 3-2-1 Bounce, a giant warehouse with blow-up bouncing toys and slides inside. This is the PacificNorthwest's answer to how to have kids birthdays during those months when it is raining all the time.
And a week later we were off again, this time to FL for a visit with Grandma Bobbie and Grandpa Michael. Reuben had the vacation of his dreams - we went to Disney World for most of the vacation. Now, as a child I went to Disney often - in fact, I was living in Orlando when the Magic Kingdom opened, and that is all it was, the Magic Kingdom. I remember when Epcot was built and opened. But now, it is unbelievable - this place has four different theme parks, and that is not counting the water parks! We discovered that Reuben loves roller coasters! Big ones, small ones and everything in between. He didn't care about any other rides besides roller coasters, and he hated the haunted mansion - too dark and scary for him! Fortunately he has a father who can go on the coasters with him, I get motion sick driving my own car, so I knew I wasn't going to be able to go on any of them.
And now we are finally home for several months, getting back on a regular schedule with our lives, at least until summer.
